Description of the project: SISAM project is an innovative solar irrigation solution (local, sector, affordable, renewable, adapted to the constraints of family farming) that meets the needs of 100 market garden farms, mostly managed by women who have little access to water. A local production line and distribution of pumps, known as "minivolanta", have been built, as well as access to local microfinance (micro leasing). Activities include production, financing, distribution, maintenance of pumps and irrigation installations.

Glass sector is a major energy consuming sector. Gujarat ( India) is a hub of large scale Glass industries. Cleaner Production assessment was carried out in selected Glass industries of Gujarat with technical study of process, we streams etc. After study, Energy conservation, water conversation, solid waste and liquid waste reduction options were successfully implemented.

This report is a review of irrigation technologies for smallholders in the context of improving rural livelihoods, especially in regards to the prospects for sub-Saharan Africa. The role of traditional technologies is evaluated and modern water distribution technologies, such as sprinkler and trickle irrigation, are reviewed. Low-cost irrigation systems, including such innovations as the use of treadle pumps and drip-kits are then examined.
