    United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is looking for member of the CTCN Network that can provide services related to Green technology deployment in industrial zones in Senegal.

    Senegal benefits from a buoyant economy, nevertheless facing a number of challenges. In the country’s development plan - Plan Senegal Emergent (PSE) - a key component to address these issues is the development of integrated industrial zones. These shall attract foreign investment, bring new technologies and increase productivity and competitiveness.

    During COP22, the Centre shared details on its progress and trends in technology transfer in terms of bridging gaps between countries' technology planning and the innovators and financiers implementing technology solutions.

    The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is mandated by the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC to promote the accelerated development and transfer of climate technologies at the request of developing countries for energy-efficient, low-carbon and climate-resilient development together with partners.

    Description of the project: The project supports 100 microsmall and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a focus on feminized sectors, to adopt sustainable production and management methods. Technical support is provided on resource efficiency and clean production (ERPP), industrial symbiosis (IS [1]), and energy auditing. Economic and environmental benefits have been evaluated. The impact for at least 80 MSMEs includes saving energy and primary materials, conserving natural resources, reducing/eliminating polluting waste and diversifying and creating jobs.

    Accounting for 37 per cent of global final energy consumption in 2014, the worldwide industrial sector consumes more energy than any other end-use sector, with China and India having the largest shares in that consumption. Energy is needed for a number of technologies and industrial processes. Nevertheless, the resulting greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced through the application of different energy and material efficiency measures, thereby offering great energy and cost saving potential.
