The Climate Technology Centre welcomed Amis de l'Afrique Francophone from Benin (AMAF-Benin) as its 400th Network member. This global network is comprised of technology experts from civil society, finance, the private sector and research institutions around the world.

The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) together with the Radboud University (the Netherlands) organized a summer school on the climate action for sustainable development. There were 28 participants from 23 different countries of which CTCN is sponsoring 15 participants from the Least Developed Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Chad, Djibouti, Guinea, Malawi, Myanmar, Mozambique, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia).

Energy poverty is high in West Africa: less than half of the population has access to electricity and women’s potential as active participants in the energy sector has been underutilised. However, fifteen West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo) are now putting women at the forefront of a new energy strategy to develop and enable increased access to climate friendly energy throughout the region.
