    Type:
    Product

Bike-sharing ideally complements private and public means of transportation on short distances. It unburdens the traffic in the city centres and improves the attractiveness of public transportation. Over the past few years, bike-sharing has become increasingly popular all around the globe.

In Switzerland, it is PubliBike that represents this mobile, urban and sustainable service. Since 2009, PubliBike has been offering a number of bike-sharing networks throughout Switzerland and is continuously expanding the programme.

  • River restoration

    Type:
    Product

Eawag is the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology and is part of a domain, which includes a university in Zurich and one in Lausanne, the three independent research institutions of Empa, PSI and WSL. Firmly anchored in its home country of Switzerland, but with a global network, Eawag is concerned with concepts and technologies for dealing sustainably with water bodies and with water as a resource.

  • Water filter

    Type:
    Product

Inspired by the impact of the earlier developed LifeStraw Guinea Worm filter, the company (LifeStraw) worked to develop a product that could filter out virtually all of the microbiological contaminants that make water unsafe to drink. The result was the LifeStraw technology, introduced in 2005 as a personal “straw-like” filter. It was designed for people in developing countries, who don’t have water piped in from municipal sources or other access to safe water and for emergency settings following natural disasters when water is contaminated.
