    The HUNGaMA (Hunger and Malnutrition) Survey conducted across 112 rural districts of India in 2011 provides reliable estimates of child nutrition covering nearly 20 percent of Indian children. Its objective was to understand the current situation and provide a basis for focused action. The idea of this survey was triggered by the Citizens’ Alliance against Malnutrition - a group of young leaders, most of them young parliamentarians - in the context of a wide gap in current data and knowledge on child malnutrition in India.

  • The Tsunami's Impact on Women

    Up to four times as many females as males may have been killed in the tsunami. This review of the evidence available in Aceh (Indonesia), India and Sri Lanka reveals that more women appear to have been killed by the tsunami for a variety of reasons. These include women staying behind to look for their children and women being less likely to know how to swim or climb palm trees.

  • Climate Change Impact Assessment of Water Resources of India

    This study quantifies the possible impacts of climate change on the water resources of Indian river systems within the constraints of the uncertainty of climate change predictions. The study uses the PRECIS daily weather data to determine the spatio-temporal water availability in the river systems. A distributed hydrological mode was used to simulate all the river basins of the country.
