  • CO2 utilization in the perspective of industrial ecology, an overview

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Monday, July 4, 2016
    Objective:
    Sectors:

Carbon dioxide emissions from anthropic activities have accumulated in the atmosphere in excess of 800 Gigatons since preindustrial times, and are continuously increasing. Among other strategies, CO2 capture and storage is one option to mitigate the emissions from large point sources. In addition, carbon dioxide extraction from ambient air is assessed to reduce the atmospheric concentration of CO2. Both direct and indirect (through photosynthesis) pathways are possible.

  • GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment)

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Tuesday, June 7, 2016

GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) is a rating tool that helps people assesses the performance of their building against certain nationally acceptable benchmarks. It evaluates the environmental performance of a building holistically over its entire life cycle, thereby providing a definitive standard for what constitutes a ‘green building’. The rating system, based on accepted energy and environmental principles, seeks to strike a balance between the established practices and emerging concepts, both national and international.

  • Understanding Integration Aspects: Renewable Power and Energy Fractions

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Sunday, January 1, 2017
    Objective:

This paper introduces the Renewable Power Fraction and Renewable Energy Fraction as self-defining metrics to quantify and visualise the performance of renewable generators versus the total load, and show how corresponding Fossil or Demand Side Management Power and Energy Fractions can similarly be defined.

  • mfarmPay: Driving Climate Financing to Rural Smallholder African Farmers

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Tuesday, January 8, 2019

Smallholder farmers and lenders with smallholder lending portfolios ( which according to CGAP currently account for about USD 50 billion globally) are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. mfarmPay, a novel parametric lending solution driving financing to African farmers, offers innovative data-driven solution to reducing climate risk in lending portfolios and incentivising the adoption of climate-smart farming approaches by smallholder food producers.

  • Reducing adverse air flow

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Friday, August 4, 2017
    Objective:

With more than half the Earth’s population now living in urban areas, some changes in the indoor and outdoor climates of cities are bound to occur. Climate scientists’ greatest concern is traditionally the urban heat island (UHI) effect – city areas where temperatures can be several degrees higher because there is lots of concrete and little blue or green infrastructure like lakes, rivers and parks. But another effect – air flow – can also cause serious health problems.

  • Innovative approach to mine water decontamination

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Friday, August 4, 2017
    Objective:
    Sectors:

Ramboll Environ developed an innovative, sustainable and economically beneficial approach to addressing the impact of metal contamination on river sediments in the River Nent in Cumbria.

  • Surface Meteorology and Solar Energy

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Sunday, March 26, 2006

The Surface Meteorology and Solar Energy website, sponsored by NASA, displays the solar radiation, wind speed, atmospheric pressure, air temperature and humidity for a given location around the globe based on a latitude and longitude.

  • A Partnership in Technology Transfer

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Tuesday, April 24, 2018

This report provides an overview of and reflections by the core DNV GL team on the work undertaken as part of the multi-year strategic partnership between DNV GL and the CTCN. It provides lessons learned by the team and recommendations and ideas for future consideration by the CTCN going forward.
