  • GIZ-programme towards ozone layer and climate protection

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Tuesday, November 1, 2011
    Objective:

Proklima is a programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It started in 1995 to support the implementation of the Montreal Protocol and also other international conventions and initiatives in the field of ozone layer and climate protection (e.g. Kyoto Protocol) in developing countries.

  • Proyecto Global de Bancos SAO - Gestion y destruccion de sustancias que agostan la capa de ozono

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Monday, December 1, 2014
    Objective:

  • Selection and safe use of alternatives to CTC (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning)

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Wednesday, October 1, 2008
    Objective:

Carbon tetrachloride (CTC) is a solvent and cleaning agent used widely across many industry segments. Its high solvency power, low cost and the fact that it is non-flammable made it popular in many cleaning applications.

  • Conversion of Supermarket Refrigeration System from F-Gases to Natural Refrigerants

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Monday, November 1, 2010
    Objective:

Currently, all supermarket refrigeration systems in Southern Africa operate on fluorinated refrigerants with high ozone-depleting and/or global warming potentials. Modern, environmentally friendlier technology based on natural refrigerants is still completely unknown there and is seen with some concern. Most equipment owners, refrigeration engineers and service technicians have been reluctant to discuss these technologies due to potential safety issues.

  • Value of the Integrated Grid

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Wednesday, May 25, 2016
    Objective:

This presentation introduces the value of the integrated grid.

  • CO2 utilization in the perspective of industrial ecology, an overview

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Monday, July 4, 2016
    Objective:
    Sectors:

Carbon dioxide emissions from anthropic activities have accumulated in the atmosphere in excess of 800 Gigatons since preindustrial times, and are continuously increasing. Among other strategies, CO2 capture and storage is one option to mitigate the emissions from large point sources. In addition, carbon dioxide extraction from ambient air is assessed to reduce the atmospheric concentration of CO2. Both direct and indirect (through photosynthesis) pathways are possible.

  • MRV and the International Climate Change Negotiations: Coming to Terms with MRV

    Type:
    Publication
    Publication date:
    Monday, September 1, 2014
    Objective:
    Sectors:

This factsheet provides a brief summary of Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV), covering different aspects, such as the following: - What do the M, R, and V stand for? - Why MRV? - Current gaps - What needs to me 'MRVed'? - Who should undertake MRV?

  • Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology

    Organisation
    Country of registration:
    Relation to CTCN:
    Network Member

Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) is dedicated to biotechnology research across a broad span of expertise from basic studies for the fundamental understanding of life phenomena to applied studies and business development. KRIBB has been active in conducting inter-regional research connected to climate change in various fields in approach to generate economic growth engine and to provide solutions to international agenda.

  • Korean Research Institute of Standards and Science

    Type:
    Organisation
    Country of registration:
    Relation to CTCN:
    Network Member

Since 1975, KRISS has been developing measurement standards and technologies as the national metrology institute of Korea. To cope with global climate change, KRISS supports many developing countries in the fields of gas analysis, thermometry and humidity sharing related standards. KRISS develops measurement and evaluation techniques for emission inventories of GHGs, monitoring techniques for background GHG mixing ratios, and the measurement technologies of key parameters in temperature and humidity.

  • The European Network of Excellence on the Geological Storage of CO2

    Type:
    Organisation
    Country of registration:
    Relation to CTCN:
    Network Member

CO2GeoNet is a non-profit scientific Association comprising 26 research institutes spanning 19 European countries and is the independent European scientific authority dealing with all aspects of geological storage of CO2. The Association draws together more than 300 experts, researchers and postgraduate students. CO2GeoNet started as a Network of Excellence under the EC 6th Framework Programme (2004-2009) and became a non-profit scientific Association in 2008 registered under French Law.
