    Integrating electricity markets across regions is vital both for the integration of renewable energies and to control production and distribution costs. But cross-border electricity trade continues to be perceived as potentially risky to security of electricity supply. In response, this report suggests the need for strong co-ordination of electricity security regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions. Based on the experience of International Energy Agency (IEA) member countries, the authors identify two ways to integrate markets over wider geographic areas.

The 39 TCPs in operation involve about 6,000 experts from government, industry and research organizations in 51 countries. Participants in TCPs have examined more than 1,900 energy-related topics in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil fuels, fusion power and crosscutting issues.

The information on the initiatives includes information about thematic focus, type of initiative, description, goal and activities, participant, and funders.

  • Energy Efficiency Indicators Highlights 2016

    This statistical report is designed to help readers understand what drives final energy use in IEA member countries in order to improve and track national energy efficiency policies. It provides the first comprehensive selection of data that the IEA has been collecting each year after its member states recognized in 2009 the need to better monitor energy efficiency policies. The report includes country-specific analysis of end uses across the largest sectors: residential, services, industry and transport.

  • The Empirics of Enabling Investment and Innovation in Renewable Energy
