  • The Future of Water in African Cities: Why Waste Water?

    The overall goal of this report is to change the way urban policymakers in Africa and task team leaders from the World Bank think about urban water management, planning and project design. African cities are growing quickly, and their current water management systems cannot keep up with growing demand. It will take a concerted effort on the part of decision makers across sectors and institutions to find a way to provide sustainable water services to African city dwellers.

    This report represents the World Bank"s operational response to climate variability and change in Africa. Grounded in a climate risk review of the Africa Region"s Sustainable Development portfolio, it adds the climate change dimension to the region"s development strategy and business plan, the Africa Action Plan (2009-2012). According to the authors, the plan and the climate change strategy are a "sound and realistic framework" for climate-resilient development in Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Biennial Assessment and Overview of Climate Finance Flows 2014

    This guide, aimed at climate change negotiators, gives synopsis of the key elements in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)’s Biennial Assessment (BA) of climate finance flows. It also provides an overview of recommendations of the UNFCCC’s Standing Committee on Finance (SCF) to the Conference of Parties. The guide also provides some views on how the identified recommendations can support future international negotiations.
