    This study evaluates energy efficiency trends and policies in more than 70 countries. The study identifies recent trends in energy efficiency performance and evaluates energy efficiency policies, focusing on five policy measures: mandatory energy audits, energy service companies (ESCOs), energy incentives for cars, energy efficiency obligations for energy utilities and measures for solar water heaters. The study identifies policy measures proven to be most effective.

    This database describes energy efficiency policies and measures in about 90 countries. Information was collected with surveys in about 50 countries and literature reviews in the remaining, which included national energy efficiency plans and other maintained databases.

The choices in the roadmap reflect input and feedback gathered from over 150 stakeholders who attended four international IRENA electricity storage policy and regulation workshops in Germany, India and Japan.
