To complete an environmental risk assessment, which would enable microfinance institutions to: ascertain the level of demand and supply of RE and EE products in each country; identify the support levels available and needed for RE products; create awareness of RE and EE amongst the MFI and clients; and develop long term sustainable plans as part of their overall Institution strategy in providing the best sources of energy options for their clients and in the communities in which they operate.

Purpose
As an integral part of the GEF Strategic Energy Programme for West Africa, the project would focus on promoting knowledge management in the field of RE and EE in the target region and with international partner institutions; in addition to ensuring coherence and coordination between country level projects, and building capacity through training workshops at the regional / national level. The project will also aim at strengthening regional integration and networking, and deepening programmatic framework approach adopted under the umbrella programme.
