The overall aim of the Partnership is to support a practical exchange on mitigation-related activities and MRV between developing and developed countries in order to help close the global ambition gap. The Partnership is comprised of approximately 90 countries, the majority of which are from developing countries. The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV has no formal character and is open to new countries. Any country with an ambitious or upcoming climate agenda is very welcome to join.

The second African Regional Workshop Peer-to-peer-exchange on BURs took place on October 15-17 in Berlin, Germany, with participants from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This report summarizes the information presented and discussed during the workshop.
Based on the main findings from the Summer School as well as including experiences and debates beyond the Summer School, this knowledge product was developed in order to provide knowledge to climate policy practitioners and experts and help enable them to enhance transparency for planning and implementation of national mitigation actions as well as for tracking progress towards the 2°C objective internationally.
In the context of the Information Matters project – Capacity Building for Ambitious Reporting and Facilitation of International Mutual Learning through Peer-to-Peer Exchange, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the BMUB has provided technical support to four partner countries including Chile. The study aims to provide comprehensive guidance to policy makers and practitioners in developing countries [Non-Annex I countries to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)] for the preparation of national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for the waste sector.
The study focuses on emission estimates from four subcategories
according to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines:
1) solid waste disposal;
2) biological treatment of solid waste;
3) incineration and open burning;
4) wastewater treatment and discharge.
