The CTCN/RECPNet Webinar: Cooperation for the deployment of technologies for climate resilience and low-carbon development was organized on two occasions:

  • Tuesday, March 22, 2016 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM (CET) and
  • Wed, Mar 23, 2016 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM (CET) - as an opportunity for the RECPNet members and the CTCN team to discuss and explore collaboration on environmentally sound technologies.

The webinar presented the services of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and the application process and benefits of joining the CTCN Network as a Network member. Network Members form a broad community of climate technology stakeholders, including academic, finance, non-government, private sector, public sector, and research entities, as well as over 100+ National Designated Entities (CTCN national focal points selected by their countries).

The CTCN was established by the countries Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with the objective to assist developing countries in identifying, developing and deploying environmentally sound technologies that can be used to increase resilience to negative impacts of climate change and to foster low carbon development. The CTCN is designed to help developing countries to remove barriers hampering the transfer of technologies in various sectors (energy efficiency and renewables, industry, waste, early warning, agriculture, water, forestry, ecosystems, coastal zones, health, etc.).

The CTCN actively seeks members from all geographic regions with an array of sectoral experience. Through its Network, the CTCN mobilises policy and technical expertise to deliver technology solutions, capacity building and implementation advice to developing countries.

Network Membership to the CTCN provides access to a diverse global community of climate technology users, providers and financiers under the umbrella of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism.
