This year's NDE Regional Forum for the Africa region was held in a virtual format in conjunction with the UNFCCC Africa Climate Week 2021 (26 - 29 September, 2021) which was hosted by the Government of Uganda.

The Regional Climate Weeks 2021 built momentum towards success at COP26. The Virtual Thematic Sessions took the pulse of climate action in the region, explored climate challenges and opportunities, and showcased ambitious solutions. This was a platform for regional stakeholders to have their voices heard and contribute to the COP26. As part of its mandate and as one of the Mechanisms of the UNFCCC, the CTCN organizes regional forums for the National Designated Entities (NDEs) on an annual basis. The objectives of the forum include sharing updates and experiences of ongoing CTCN activities in the region and interaction with climate technology stakeholders from the region, strengthen the regional NDE network, share national updates and bring attention to issues to be discussed during COP 26, strengthen collaboration and linkages between the CTCN support and other support mechanisms available under the UNFCCC and more importantly identify opportunities for enhancing actions for NDC implementation through innovative climate technology and financing options

Aligning with the objectives of the Climate Week, the CTCN Africa NDE forum helped to build momentum towards successful outcomes at the COP26 in Glasgow, UK, focussing on accelerating climate action through climate technology transfer.
