The Climate Knowledge Brokers (CKB) Group is an emerging alliance of around 150 of the leading global, regional and national knowledge brokers specialising in climate and development information. It brings together a diverse set of information players, from international organisations to research institutes, NGOs and good practice networks, and covers the full breadth of climate related themes. The focus is on primarily online initiatives, and those that play an explicit knowledge brokerage role, rather than being simply institutional websites.
Climate Knowledge Brokers
The Climate Knowledge Brokers (CKB) Group was set up in 2011 with the aim to explore closer collaboration between online knowledge brokers working in the climate and development sectors. The group is an informal network and an emerging ‘community of practice’ in the fields of knowledge and information on climate and development. As its main objective the CKB group and all its members aim to enable decision makers and individuals faced with the challenges of climate change to take decisions based on high quality, comprehensive data, information and knowledge.

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, spanning countries and continents, societies and generations, sectors and disciplines. Yet crucial data and information on climate issues are still too often amassed – diffuse – in closed silos.

Members of the Climate Knowledge Brokers Group - a network of more than 150 leading climate information providers - will present initiatives to create a “Climate Knowledge Grid” – a technological and human-centred construct that will support significantly deeper collaboration and knowledge integration and create a vastly more efficient mechanism for bringing climate information to decision makers everywhere.
The outreach event is an open session and cocktail reception to learn what climate knowledge brokers are doing to connect up climate knowledge, and discuss how your organisation can benefit and ‘plug in’ to the ‘climate knowledge grid’. It is organized by the CKB Group jointly with CTCN, CDKN and REEEP.
Guests are welcome to come for the whole event participication is free.
