  • Passive houses in Beckomberga

    In the northern parts of Bromma, two so called ”passive-houses” are being built. Passive houses are particulary isolated, with an efficient heat recycling system and energy-efficient windows. They need 50% less energy compared to conventional multi-dwelling buildings.

  • Sannegårdshamnen – From dockland to sustainable housing

    This 100 year-old harbour was primarily used for handling coal and coke. Its curved wharfs have been renovated and supplemented with low wooden jetties.

    Inland from the wharfs, there are housing complexes built around green yards. Attractive outdoor areas, seats in sunny locations and well-planned green areas make ideal places for meeting and socialising.

  • Stored heat makes football pitch playable

    When the new football field at Katrineholms Sports center was constructed, heating coils underneath the pitch were installed, which makes its playable even in winter. The heat is collected from an underground energy storage, where waste heat from the artificially frozen bandy court’s compressors is stored.

  • The Eco-City Augustenborg, Malmö

    In 1996 the decision was taken to create an eco-city from the 1950’s housing estate and 1960’s industrial area. This provides an excellent example of a successful sustainable makeover of an urban district. The make-over focused on efficient water systems, green roofs, and solar energy. The water systems include surface rainwater runoff systems, canals, and ponds.

  • The eco-smart Kungsbrohuset

    In Kungsbrohuset, there are several innovative cleantech solutions. Among other things, Kungsbrohuset recovers the excess heat, generated by the commuters at the Stockholm Central Station. Water from Klara Lake is used for cooling the building.

  • The Hammarby Sjöstad Ecocycle

    The goal for Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm, Sweden, was to halve the overall environmental impact compared with if the area had been built in the early 1990s. The goal was not fully attained. But thanks to the ambitious target and integrated planning, this lakeside town has set an international example.

  • The Väla Gård office building in Helsingborg

    The Väla Gård office building in Helsingborg, southern Sweden, is Skanska’s greenest office building to date. The building achieved LEED Platinum and became Sweden’s first Deep Green building by achieving net zero energy, and by being constructed with zero hazardous materials and with zero waste sent to landfill.

  • Övik Energi Cogeneration & District Cooling

    Hörneborgsverket, a biofuel based cogeneration plant, is the engine of Övik Energi’s energy production. Hörneborgsverket produce roughly three equal amounts of district heating, steam, and electricity. The steam is distributed to the neighbouring process industries – Domsjö Fabriker, AkzoNobel and SEKAB. Due to the industry’s need for steam, which is in demand throughout the entire year, the cogeneration plant is used to a greater extent, in comparison with power plants that only supply district heating, of which the demand fluctuates.

  • CELSIUS – Smart Heating and Cooling

    The EU’s largest smart energy cities project, CELSIUS, has taken a leading role in demonstrating and promoting smart district heating and cooling solutions across Europe. More than 60 cities have now joined the project, coordinated by Sweden’s largest municipal energy company Göteborg Energi and the city.

The first three sub-projects are managed by the healthcare management organization of Region Skåne.

The expertise regarding energy efficiency and alternative energy sources are great and we have benefited from the expertise available internally in the municipality and held by planners, designers and installers when new building erected. In Ornskoldsvik, we have recently built schools, nursing homes, swimming pools and office buildings. All along, the minimization of energy has been an important issue.
