BUILDING A SAFER WORLD: TOOLKIT FOR INTEGRATING GBV PREVENTION AND RESPONSE INTO USAID ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
This document presents the first Gender Policy and Action Plan of the Climate Technology Centre & Network. The development of such as document follows the CTCN mission from Decision 2/CP.17 to facilitate the preparation and implementation of technology projects and strategies taking into account gender considerations to support action on mitigation and adaptation.
This document is to be viewed as an initial gender mainstreaming guideline during the development of CTCN response plans and applies to design, implementation and monitoring of technical assistance.
This guidebook is divided into two parts. Part I familiarizes the reader with gender concepts and demonstrates the relevance of gender issues to climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as to the relationship between gender and climate in the Sustainable Development Goals. When adopting a gender approach in a TNA, the TNA teams must understand the various gender-related barriers and constraints to the uptake and diffusion of technologies prioritized by countries.
Smallholder farmers and lenders with smallholder lending portfolios ( which according to CGAP currently account for about USD 50 billion globally) are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. mfarmPay, a novel parametric lending solution driving financing to African farmers, offers innovative data-driven solution to reducing climate risk in lending portfolios and incentivising the adoption of climate-smart farming approaches by smallholder food producers.
Following the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015, ecbi produced Guides to the Agreement in English and in French. These proved popular with both new and senior negotiators. We therefore decided to develop a series of thematic guides, to provide negotiators with a brief history of the negotiations on the topic; a ready reference to the key decisions that have already been adopted; and a brief analysis of the outstanding issues from a developing country perspective. These Guides are mainly web-based, and updated regularly.
