CTCN

Despite the effects of climate change being increasingly tangible for people in many parts of the world, there is a strong need for creating greater awareness of the full implications and direct and indirect impacts of a changing climate in both rural and urban areas. Developing efficient knowledge systems that reach out and engage can have a profound implication for speeding up the process of adapting our societies to become more low-carbon and resilient, through providing a better basis as well as support for decision-making. Below you will find related publications, partners, CTCN technical assistance, technologies and other information for exploring this topic further.

    Objective

The power sector is the largest contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. In 2010, the energy supply sector was responsible for approximately 35% of total anthropogenic GHG emissions.  To achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, countries are required to peak greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and achieve climate neutrality by mid-century. It is of paramount importance making efforts to transform and decarbonize energy systems that align with the Paris goals.
