This report takes carbon dioxide mitigation recommendations from the International Panel on Climate Change and assesses the trends necessary within the transportation sector to meet those goals. Using the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's baseline and "BLUE map" carbon dioxide mitigation scenarios, the report attempts to determine the contribution of vehicle transport to overall carbon emissions. Also included are estimations of the potential deployment for alternative fuels and vehicles in each transportation sector.
