This paper investigates trade flows and barriers to renewable energy technologies and their associated goods. It studies the effects of market and trade characteristics, such as tariffs, on the dissemination of renewable technologies. By studying "harmonized system" data, the study finds that intra-European trade in renewable energy products was among the highest; developing countries accounted for 30% of global exports in renewables, and of that, China contributed nearly 40%.
