Successful Energy Policy Interventions in Africa

This report presents background on the energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and overviews select energy interventions, evaluating them according to seven criteria for success. Case studies of renewable power generation in Mauritius and Kenya, electrification in South Africa and Ghana, LPG use in Senegal, and improved charcoal use in Kenya are reviewed in detail. Key factors contributing to success of policies are discussed.
