This report summarizes the findings of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment's study on the overall potential for renewable energy deployment in Japan, with a focus on the Tohoku and Kanto regions. The generation technologies examined in this report are utility-scale photovoltaic solar, wind power, geothermal, and small- to medium-scale hydropower. The impact of the introduction of feed-in tariffs and subsidies on encouraging technology deployment is assessed alongside the estimates of generation potential.
