Smart Grids System Report

This report from the United States Department of Energy to Congress provides an overview of smart grid deployment in the United States and identifies regulatory or government barriers to continued deployment. It contains information on smart grid programs funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Additionally, it identifies technical constraints such as the difficulty of integrating automated metering equipment and a lack of standardization in addition to business constraints such as high up-front capital expenses.
