Background

Publish Recommended Practice Guides and conduct Workshops in developing countries to support agencies to develop and implement sustainable renewable energy services including addressing the targets of the Millennium Development Goals.

Purpose

IEA-PVSDC has an extensive programme of work underway but somewhat limited to PV technology. The main activities to be undertaken with REEEP co-financing will be to expand the work to include small hydro and wind technologies as Renewable Energy Services for Developing Countries and to conduct at least 2 additional workshops in 2005/6 in Brazil South Africa and India. The current programme already has commitments to hold Workshops at the World Bank and in China and Laos in the 2005/6 FY. Feedback to IEA member governments on policy change new directions will be made. Policy redirection towards developing countries could have very significant impact on energy and environment.
