This report examines the progress Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation countries on the two energy initiatives laid out in APEC's 2007 Sydney Declaration: 1) facilitate and review progress through the voluntary APEC Energy Peer Review Mechanism and 2) work towards achieving an APEC‐wide goal of a reduction in energy intensity of at least 25% by 2030. In this report, APERC’s projections suggest that more action will be needed if the member countries hope to reach their three-pronged energy policy sustainability goals of economic growth, energy security, and environmental protection.
