International Energy Technology Collaboration and Climate Change Mitigation Case Study 4: Clean Coal Technologies

This case study reviews recent experience in international collaboration on clean coal technologies in order to identify lessons that may be relevant for climate-friendly technology collaboration. It presents information on cleaner and more efficient coal technologies, their status, and development prospects, with a focus on fuel combustion and power generation. The study focuses on China because of its significant use of coal and the various efforts made for transferring clean coal equipment and technologies to that country.
