India's Clean Revolution

This report considers the scale of India’s growth, and the steps already taken in the direction of clean growth, by policies and initiatives of government and by the actions of state-owned and private enterprises. It suggests reasons why India is poised to take on a significant role in the world and looks at the opportunities and financing challenges. Chapter one covers the opportunities presented in de-carbonizing India’s energy supply – through both increased renewable energy deployment and supply-side efficiency. The remaining chapters of this report focus on the enormous business and financing opportunities associated with demand-side energy efficiency, including in industry, transportation, and buildings.
