This document is the national plan up to 2016-2017 for the Government of India's Renovation, Modernisation, and Life Extension programme to improve the efficiency of existing coal-fired power plants. A large number of 200/210 MW units have or are near completing their normal operating life and need modernization and life extension. There exists a potential for enhancing these units' rated capacity by 4 to 8 percent and efficiency by 8 to 10 percent. The document assists with the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Renovation, Modernisation, and Life Extension programme for the thermal power stations in the country.
