This paper presents a long-term prospective for energy sector in Central American countries which serves as the basis for analyzing the potential impacts of climate change on the sector. Energy development scenarios extend to 2100 and take into account factors related to energy security, natural resource endowment, diversification of the energy matrix, a larger share of renewable energy, universal access to modern services energy, sustainable use of firewood, energy-intensive uses (such as transport), demographic change and urbanization.
