Environmental Footprints and Costs of Coal-Based Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle and Pulverized Coal Technologies

This report presents the results of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) study conducted to establish the environmental footprint and costs of coal-based integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology relative to conventional pulverized coal (PC) technologies. The environmental comparisons of IGCC and PC plants are based on the thermal performance, emissions of criteria and non-criteria air pollutants, solid waste generation rates, and water consumption/wastewater discharge rates associated with each plant.
