This report describes how renewable energy and energy efficient technologies have rapidly become cost-effective solutions for overcoming the diverse energy challenges facing the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). National policies and regional cooperation are taking shape in the region, potentially triggering what could become a renewable energy boom in West Africa. The report describes how wind, solar photovoltaics, hydropower, energy efficiency and policies that support their integration are on the rise in West Africa to create a sustainable energy system.
