This report presents 1) an analysis of international vehicle emission standards with the intent of identifying a pathway for improving China's own emission standards and 2) a discussion of potential barriers to and benefits of implementing them. This report discusses the pathways that exist within the European vehicle emission standard system and discusses the available technologies used to reduce sulfur, nitrogen oxide (NOx), and particulate matter emissions.
