This paper provides a systematic and objective analysis of emerging clean coal technologies in India, keeping in mind India's historical trajectory and its current and future needs, challenges, and constraints. The report also offers suggestions towards developing a coal-power technology road map for India. Clean coal technologies assessed in this report include advanced pulverized coal-supercritical steam generation, fluidized-bed combustion (FBC), bubbling fluidized-bed combustion (BFBC), circulating fluidized-bed combustion (CFBC), pressurized fluidized-bed combustion (PFBC), oxyfuel combustion, flue gas desulphurization, integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC), and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS).
