This case study examines important changes known to be either in the system or being considered at this time. Many aspects of the Egyptian energy sector are currently in the process of changing or change has been proposed. This includes, inter alia, elements relating to the costs of electricity transmission and distribution; new laws relating to the incorporation of wind power; pricing of gas, electricity and other energy carriers; whether wind components will be constructed in Egypt and how new wind plants will be tendered. Progress in a number of areas is expected in the second half of 2009, though the precise dates and impacts of these changes exhibit significant uncertainty.
