Carbon Dioxide Emissions Reduction Potential in Japan's Power Sector--Estimating Carbon Emissions Avoided by a Fuel-Switch Scenario

This report studies the potential for Japan to switch its power sector towards a more sustainable and less carbon-emitting track. This study focuses on switching the power sector to a fuel with a smaller carbon dioxide load, namely natural gas, that would be used at a higher efficiency rate, a focus on renewable energies, a phase-out of nuclear energy, and adopting energy efficiency and conservation measures targeted at reducing electricity use on the residential, commercial, and industrial levels.
