Carbon Capture and Storage in Developing Countries: A Perspective on Barriers to Deployment

Significant funding is needed to support carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology. As such, mobilizing financial support and incentives is essential for the successful testing and deployment of CCS. This report reviews the economic potential of CCS deployment in Southern Africa and the Balkans, legal and regulatory barriers in developing countries, role of climate finance sources in accelerating deployment, and models for financing CCS projects.
