This report is produced yearly by the European Commission in order to provide: 1) a concise and authoritative assessment of a portfolio of low-carbon energy technologies currently in place in the European Commission; 2) their current and estimated future market penetration and the barriers to their large-scale deployment; 3) the ongoing and planned research and development and demonstration efforts to overcome technological barriers; and, 4) reference values for their operational and economic performance, which can be used for the modelling and analytical work performed in support of implementation of the Strategic Energy Technology Plan.
