Geometry for a Gradual Heat Exchanger

A novel heat exchanger with gradual change geometry has a significantly higher efficiency than conventional heat exchangers. For example the novel heat exchanger may have a coefficient of performance (COP defined as ratio of kilowatts of heat transferred per milliwatt of mechanical energy dissipated) of 14 which is much higher than a COP of 0.25 to 3 for conventional heat exchangers. Applications of such a novel heat exchanger are an energy savings in pre-heating of clean cold water from used warm water and heat recovery in building ventilation. Rapid cooling of wort in beer making is another possible application. Patent Status: This technology is claimed in a pending patent application.
