Wastewater treatment plant

  • Technology Description: Professor Cohen and colleagues have developed a graywater treatment system to recycle water that presents a number of advantages over currently available systems. It allows water to be re-circulated continuously at a higher flow rate than current systems without flooding while still providing an aerobic environment in the “soil” layer. Several novel components including the vegetation support and plumbing are designed to be easily removed facilitating ease of maintenance and repair. In addition a number of features prevents clogging in the system.

  • Greywater recycling is a sustainable solution that balances the domestic water budget from its own water resources. The shower bath washing basin and washing machine sewage are called greywater and may be treated on-site and reused safely for toilet flushing and gardening. Recycle options for private homes and apartment buildings are .available and the economy of scale enables economic saving in large recycling systems.

  • Technology Overview: Adsorbents for removing contaminants typically include activated carbon metal oxides like titania (TiO2) iron oxide etc. The present technology provides an environmentally friendly method in preparing alternative group of metal oxides as effective adsorbents for heavy metal contaminants. A binary and ternary metal oxide has been tested to effectively adsorb/remove aqueous contaminants like arsenic (As) lead (Pb) and copper (Cu). Such adsorbent(s) can be conveniently used as fine particles with filtration or can be loaded on porous carriers and used in column.

  • pH2O designs builds and operates a full scale combined unit for washing landfill disposal trucks after they dump the waste and before leaving the landfill which is a becoming a global environmental regulation. The unit purifies and recycles the washing water while eliminating odour with no added chemicals and with zero discharge. All products incorporate electrochemically based technology without the need to add chemicals for any of the process while achieving total control and maintenance of water pH.

  • Lamp fouling is a significant problem among conventional ultraviolet (UV) technologies due to the risk of contamination by clogging. In addition energy requirements in conventional systems increase in order for high intensity lamps to compensate for the reduction in penetration depth due to clogging. A researcher at the University of California Davis has developed a novel system for UV treatment of water and wastewater. The design is such that the flow and resident time allows for the elimination of contaminants from treated water.

  • Polymeric membranes have been widely used for desalination and water softening wastewater treatment biomedical and pharmaceutical materials separation and other chemical engineering applications. Our invention involves creating high performance membranes by integrating various fillers with ordered and/or defined mesoporous structures.

  • Technology

Polymer Institute in cooperation with Water Research Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences have developed a highly effective composite sorbent for the removal of contaminants from water. This includes heavy metals such as As Sb Cr Cd Pb and others. The composite sorbent can be also used in wastewater treatment including wastewater from chemical and electronic industry. Contamination of water is a global problem. The presence of certain substances in water can threaten the health of the population.

  • Technology

Background: Water is crucial for human survival. Water is also a pivotal aspect of the global economy for its uses in agricultural irrigation industrial processes electricity production and as drinking water. Continuous population growth limits the supply of freshwater. Because water conservation alone cannot resolve the problems of the shrinking water supply production of fresh water from alternative sources such as reclaimed wastewater brackish groundwater and ocean water is imperative. Currently osmotic processes are able to produce high quality water from these sources.

  • The Bio- Robi wastewater solution has its principal application for individual residences to replace the conventional septic systems with a much better and more environmentally friendly wastewater treatment system. It is very cost competitive with conventional septic systems which face regulatory restrictions. The wastewater solution of Bio- Disk unit is designed for multiple residential clusters of individual homes in a subdivision apartment complexes condominiums and commercial applications such as hotels shopping malls convenience and entertainment/recreation centers.
