This study is part of the International Energy Agency's (IEA) ongoing analysis of global renewable energy markets and policies, building on the key principles for effective policy design identified in "Deploying Renewables: Principles for Effective Policies" (2008). This paper examines the situation in 6 of the 10 countries that comprise the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In 2007, ASEAN-6 represented more than 95% of energy demand in southeast Asia.

The Laguna Lake Development Authority’s carbon-forestry project, called the Laguna de Bay Community Watershed Rehabilitation Project, consists of two components: 1) Project 1,which covers an aggregate of 140 ha over 10 barangays within the Caliraya-Lumot Watershed. The report focuses on Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia (particularly the States of Sarawak and Sabah), Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam.

This collection of analyses spotlight cases and interviews with prominent women activists involved in natural resource management in Nepal, Indonesia, the Philippines and China to better understand the diverse challenges faced by Asian women in relation to limited rights and insecure tenure. Despite contextual differences, the studies identify a number of similarities and trends.
