It provides a consistent and comprehensive estimate for 92 individual countries and 8 regions. The analysis provides information that can be used to understand national contributions of GHG emissions, historical progress on reductions and mitigation opportunities.     To provide quantitative information for the debate on the burden sharing of the European Union target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2020 by 20 per cent, this report assesses the potential and costs for further mitigation of the non-carbon-dioxide (CO2) GHG emissions beyond the currently agreed policies. It addresses the non-CO2 gases included in the Kyoto protocol [i.e., methane (CH4); nitrous oxide (N2O); and the three F-gases: hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).

    Under the umbrella of the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a number of leading cement companies are collaborating on monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. One of these issues is the industry"s emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main GHG contributing to man-made global warming. This revised Version 3 of the Cement CO2 and Energy Protocol is published in May 2011 and is intended to be applied for reporting of data starting in the year 2011.

    IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme (IEAGHG) is an international research body established in 1991, evaluating technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the use of fossil fuels, with a focus on carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS).

    The study aims to provide comprehensive guidance to policy makers and practitioners in developing countries [Non-Annex I countries to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)] for the preparation of national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for the waste sector. Though GHG emissions from the waste sector are still comparatively low compared to other sectors, they are continuously rising in developing countries due to changing production and consumption patterns. Experience shows that emissions from this sector can be reduced significantly at relatively low costs.

    Due to the rising temperatures, population, urbanization and economic growth, the demand of cooling and air conditioning is steadily increasing. The “Green Cooling Network” was established in order to promote a dialogue between stakeholders from industries, policy, research and non-governmental organizations. The project aims to implement the Cancun decisions to build efficient processes and structures that serve to accelerate the technology transfer for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.

    This handbook aims to serve policy makers and practitioners in developing countries as a comprehensive guideline for the preparation and implementation of nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) in the refrigeration, air conditioning and foam blowing (RAC&F) sectors. To date it is the only comprehensive compendium addressing the RAC&F sectors with respect to NAMAs, or, more generally, cost-effective mitigation actions on a sectoral level.
