This report gathers key messages from the Anglophone African Regional Workshop on "Converting (I)NDCs into action: the role of NAMAs in NDC implementation", which tool place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 2-4 May 2016. On the one hand Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) are an important instrument to assist the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)1 under the Paris Agreement. On the other hand, NDCs can provide long-term targets and hence an important framework for the implementation of NAMAs.

El segundo capítulo analiza los enfoques de M&E existentes, mientras que el capítulo 3 ofrece un panorama general de los enfoques de M&E para la adaptación al cambio climático.

This working paper summarises the results of scoping research to assess capacity needs in six countries—Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, India, South Africa, and Thailand—related to greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement and performance tracking. The paper identifies common capacity challenges, as well as opportunities to overcome them.

The Climate Investment Fund (CIF) provides developing countries with concessional loans, equity, grants and risk mitigation instruments to leverage financing from multilateral banks, the private sector and other sectors. The African Development Bank (AfDB) is one of the five implementing agencies for the CIF concessional funds to Africa; this report is AfDB’s first semi-annual report on the CIF.

This article looks at the impacts of climate change on African forest ecosystems and forest-related sectors and the implications for rural livelihoods. The review looks at case studies from Botswana, the Gambia, Ethiopia, Republic of Congo, Malawi and Uganda for impacts, underlying causes of vulnerability, and coping and adaptation strategies. It is concluded that climate change is likely to cause additional inequalities, thus disproportionately affecting the poor.
