Although urban centers are often ill-prepared to meet the basic needs of rapidly expanding populations, the urban poor are incredibly resourceful people, with their own networks and the proven capacity to save and invest in the betterment of their communities. Climate change can stimulate action that improves and transforms the most vulnerable urban communities.

The Community of Practice Solar Photovoltaic (COP-ESF) aims at the dissemination and sharing of updated information on the situation, trends and opportunities for solar PV in Latin America and the Caribbean. The information disseminated on the website of the COP-ESF include: the technical aspects of applications in small and large scale projects both in rural areas far from the grid, as grid-connected installations, well as non-technical aspects of legal, economic, environmental and institutional nature.

This report presents an evaluation of the current situation and perspectives for action instruments related to energy efficiency in 26 Latin American and Caribbean countries that are members of the OLADE. The study focused on determining the following aspects of each country's national energy programmes: recent advances in policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks, key actors in energy efficiency and their effective roles, resources and funding mechanisms for energy efficiency programmes and results of energy efficiency programmes to date and lessons learned.

This document provides information on how to develop and implement new climate services (climate information and adapted infrastructure)--information in the Latin America and Caribbean regions with a vision of integrating climate information into decision-making in socioeconomic sectors, through an effective dialogue between providers and users on the range, timing, quality, content and delivery format of climate products and services.

The objectives of the project were the preparation of drought-relevant base documentation, the development of operative web-based tools and drought information material for Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago and the conduction of training activities and two capacity building workshops on both study sites.

This report is divided in four main topics. The first presents a general analysis of links between the hydrological cycle and climate change, followed by the hydrological cycle in the Caribbean and its impact on water resources. It continues with an analysis of the possible impacts on groundwater due to sea-level rise and several aspects related to water management and finishes with different adaptation and mitigation options that should be implemented in each country's policies.
