
In 1990 the Energy Efficiency Trust FIDE was created as a private non-profit corporation with the purpose of encouraging electric energy savings and promoting the development of a culture for the rational use of electricity. It is part of a Public-Private Partnership between the National Electrical Public Utility CFE, the Ministry of Energy SENER, the National Chambers of Construction Enterprises and Chambers of Electrical Manufacturers and Industries. FIDE attends five strategic sectoral, industrial, commercial, municipal, micro & small enterprises, and residential supporting projects to reduce electricity consumption, by means of technical support and funding the implementation of energy efficiency measures. To accomplish its action plan, FIDE receives voluntary contributions from enterprises involved in infrastructure projects for the Public Utility of 0.2% of every thousand dollars invested; revenues from energy efficiency projects financed with patrimonial funds. FIDE is committed to the renewable energy and energy efficiency public policies, carrying out projects and programs, supporting market transformation in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and the Public Utility
