A 2018 Stocktake on Sectoral Ambition in the G20 

This study provides a clear picture of the state of G20 transport emissions, analyses already existing approaches for decarbonising the transport sector, and stresses the urgency of putting ambitious climate action on the political agenda. In the process, we hope to promote discussions about climate friendly transport, not just in G20 countries but everywhere. After all, the transformation of the transport sector can succeed only when the entire international community works together.

This report gathers key messages from the Anglophone African Regional Workshop on "Converting (I)NDCs into action: the role of NAMAs in NDC implementation", which tool place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 2-4 May 2016. On the one hand Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) are an important instrument to assist the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)1 under the Paris Agreement. On the other hand, NDCs can provide long-term targets and hence an important framework for the implementation of NAMAs.

The study focuses on emission estimates from four subcategories
according to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines:
1) solid waste disposal;
2) biological treatment of solid waste;
3) incineration and open burning;
4) wastewater treatment and discharge.

The Partnership’s 2013 Summer School took place from 20 to 28 August 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam, and focused on “Tracking progress and MRV for greenhouse gas emission reductions”.

With the publication of this catalogue, the BMZ-funded GIZ sector program ‘Basic Energy Services (HERA)’ provides a market overview of DC-powered appliances, useful for developing and strengthening business activities in rural areas. This 1st Edition does not claim to provide a conclusive and comprehensive picture but rather to offer an overview of selected appliances available on the market today, complemented with elemental technical details, established distribution channels and, where possible, practical experiences from the field.

In Indonesia, the usage of cooling – such as refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) – increases by 15% per year in the industrial, commercial, and private sectors. The use of inefficient appliances with outdated technology is common in these sectors. The project aims to establish a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) for industrial and commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, thereby making a significant contribution to meeting Indonesia’s GHG emissions reduction targets.

The aim of the workshop was to provide a platform for south-south exchange for the four IM countries, to share experiences and lessons learned resulting from the implementation of the project, in particular, on building-up and institutionalizing national MRV systems and preparing for the first Biennial Update Report, and – where a BUR was already submitted – undergoing first steps under the International Consultation and Analysis process (ICA).

The Global Good Practice Analysis is a joint initiative by the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV and the UNDP Low Emission Capacity Building Programme and documents examples of mitigation-related good practice worldwide which demonstrate how LEDS, NAMAs and MRV systems are being effectively designed and implemented across a range of national contexts.

The Global Good Practice Analysis is a joint initiative by the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV and the UNDP Low Emission Capacity Building Programme and documents examples of mitigation-related good practice worldwide which demonstrate how INDCs, LEDS, NAMAs and MRV systems are being effectively designed and implemented across a range of national contexts.

"MRV, leadership and groups/clubs/coalitions" were the buzzwords at the Summer Retreat of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV held in Mexico in September 2015. This knowledge product builds upon the discussions from the Summer Retreat and aims at demonstrating that building a coalition of countries to lead the way in Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) can be an effective way of ensuring countries rise above the floor of minimum requirements for transparency in their climate actions.

The document “Preparing for the ICA Process: Required efforts and capacities needed” aims to guide non-Annex I Parties in preparing for the International Consultation and Analysis (ICA) process under the UNFCCC, and what efforts and capacities might be required to this end.

The knowledge product "How to advance Intended Nationally Determined Contributions - Technical aspects for development and review" presents guiding questions which aim to support practitioners in their work to develop, define and review their country’s INDCs.

This discussion paper outlines the climate-related mitigation and adoption potential of basic energy access solutions. While delving into the mitigation potential of soot reduction, it highlights how clean cooking solutions and decentralized energy access programs can benefit from political means and financing instruments within the framework convention on climate change.

During the forth Summer School of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV participants discussed potential elements of the rules base for Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV), accounting and implementation and the capacities needed to fulfil the respective requirements.
